After reading several negative reviews of The Pride of America, I had begun to think we had made a huge mistake booking a cruise on her. To our delight we found the week onboard exceptionally pleasant. overall, the ship was clean & well-maintained. The food was very good, and all the staff we came in contact with were friendly, helpful, and efficient. We were in cabin 12502, a lovely and large suite, so we expected above average service, and we received it. All our needs were promptly met, including a repair to our cabin's temperature control system. Our butler, Chris, got on to the problem immediately, and before we could blink had a team of technicians on the job who resolved the issue as quickly as could be expected. We ate in various restaurants and enjoyed them all. Our favorite was Cagney's, where we ate often. Our server was excellent. She has great pride in her job, and took very good care of us. We went on four shore excursions, and ranked them good to outstanding. There were several onboard activities we did not avail ourselves of such as any of the entertainment, art auctions, etc. We used the library, exercise facility & the salon. We did not use the hot tub on the deck of our cabin. In fact, we would have preferred it not being there as it impeded the view.
The only area I would have liked to be better was the level of cleaning in our cabin. Although it was satisfactory, the wood furniture was dusty, as were areas under items that had not been moved in some time, such as the coffee maker. Our large & well equipped bathroom was always immaculate after the daily cleaning.
It is without hesitation that i recommend the Pride of America to anyone wishing a pleasant way to visit the islands of Hawaii.
