After having sailed on the Rotterdam the past 3 years, we decided to go on the Ryndam this year . We were not disappointed ! What a great ship, being slightly smaller than the Rotterdam there seems to more space per passenger .
Embarkation: smoothly and efficient, we were on board in 15 minutes
Public Rooms : all in tip top shape , is this ship 20 years old ? ;-)
MDR : we had open seating , it worked out really well, we only had to wait once. The quality of the food is perfect ! Lobstertails are still on the menu... . Although there have cutbacks in the amount of stewards , service is still great.
Entertainment : HAL standard, nothing special except for magician Ruben Millegrand and Spanish Dance group.
Fitness : was never crowded, enough equipment
Ports of Call : except for Portland UK , worth docking !!
Disembarkation : we took expedited, walked off with our own bags at 8 o'clock. Hotel Manager, Cruise Director and more staff were at the gangway to say goodbye, nice touch !
In General : very friendly crew ( even on disembarkation day ! ) and a very informative and "social" Captain.
I hope that HAL will keep ships like the Ryndam in their fleet for a long time to come. If you 're looking for skating rink, climbing wall etc . not your ship . If you're looking for a great library, trivia quizzes, talking to fellow passengers, a casino , Ryndam is for you .
