EMBARKATION: Smooth… We arrived around 10:30 AM to the Park and Go parking lot at the pier, and were on board Allure by 11:30 AM. Lines were not bad since we were so early, but seems like RCCL really has thought this process through.
Cabin…8240…Jr. Suite… Good space and design. We had not selected this cabin initially (switched from a balcony to a “Deluxe Guarantee” at the last momen) but in the end, the extra space was very nice. Lots of storage and we loved the walk in closet. Linens and bedding were very comfortable. TV had minimal channels and I would have appreciated more. CNN was the only news channel. We had a ‘hump’ cabin, so the extra large balcony was nice. We had chaise lounges on our balcony in addition to the 2 standard chairs and two person table. There are two standard electrical outlets in the cabin. We experienced no issues with the A/C…Cabin was always cool and comfortable, if not too cool. There was also a coffee pot and a tea kettle. Seattle’s Best Coffee was supplied endlessly. Thanks to Alan Nopal, the most wonderful stateroom attendant, we enjoyed truly adorable towel animals!
Food in a nutshell (longer descriptions below)… We dined at Chops, Giovanni’s, MDR, Café Promenade, Park Café & WindJammer. All were good to very good. So sad to hear that the menu at Chops will be changing and that the Baked Potato is going away, to be replaced by tator tots. Shameful! Service in the MDR was excellent !
8240 is a hump cabin and has lots of well thought out space. No noticeable noise. A/C worked well. We loved the walk in closet! Coffee pot in room is wonderful! Love this room!!
