This is my 4 cruise in a row on the same boat around the same time, and I may say that the quality of the cruise food and entertainment had decreased tremendously. We were a Party of 17 people, celebrating 3 b-days. We were very excited on going on this trip for the previous years we had an amazing time. To our surprised the quality overall was not the same.
Let's start by saying that the cruise was sold out, it was completely packed. When we arrived at the port it was chaos. it took forever to get to the desk. Once we finally boarded it was hard to move around and it was extremely hot inside and out of the ship. It seamed as if the A/C was not working.
The food was horrible, on our previous the food was pretty good for being buffet style although this time around there was a BIG difference in the quality and taste. We then decided to have dinned at the dinning room expecting it to be better, but unfortunately we were wrong. Half of our party returned their food, for it was uneatable. What happened to the food we all wondered.
We decided to give the Steak specialty restaurant a chance one night, and it was totally worth it, the food was completely different and it tasted amazing. The difference in the quality of food should not be that much of a difference in quality and taste.
In previous years there were more activities and games in the pool area. This time they only played on game a day. What happened?
Another big disappointment was that one of the pools was not working, and we were never informed. For a ship to be completely booked and sold out, to only have one working pool is completely unacceptable. They spent the whole weekend repairing it, with no success. These are basic maintenance that should be taken care of, prior to sailing.
Our room was great, although it was a little hot. Even thought we left the A/C on cool, it didn't seem to be cooling enough. We needed to request for ice and whatever we needed in our rooms. On previous cruises the stateroom service was better. One night we were even left without towels and had to dry ourselves with the face towels.
We never received our bill statement at our stateroom by the time we left. The line to go to the front desk was really long so I just called (which took me more than 1 hr on hold) but I got the billing department to email it to me.
I was overall extremely disappointed with this cruise, we have decided not to do it again next year and choose a different venue. To bad for NCL used to be one of our favorite cruise line, especially for the freestyle.
