Royal Princess is Wonderful

Sail Date: April 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

My wife and I recently sailed on our 5th cruise with Princess Cruises. We decided to repeat the Eastern Caribbean itinerary because we wanted to sail on the new Royal Princess. Overall, we were had an awesome experience and noticed some changes that we really liked.

First, the Horizon Court had been upgraded and included more food options and easier access and flow. We would have been satisfied with eating here all week. They also added a dessert only room that is incredible.

Second, the piazza area is larger and even more beautiful if you can believe it. There is more entertainment and dining around the piazza that makes it a focus of the ship and easier to know what is going on and walk around and try different areas. Third, the rooms are nicer. Yes, our deluxe balcony was a little smaller, but it was nicer. So you need to consider that when knowing what's important to you. We didn't find the size uncomfortable and the lay out actually made it more comfortable. More

Third, the pool area on top has the fountain shows that are awesome; however, we enjoyed the fact that the raised area in between the pools is converted into a dancing/show area. Fourth, the Movies Under the Stars has some very nice upgrades. The TV and sound system are nicer, and the layout of the deck is almost like stadium seating for movies so there are plenty of areas to be able to see the movie.

Lastly, we enjoyed the new running track and the fitness center is nice with plenty of treadmills. There was really only one item about the ship that we did not like and that is the fact there there are less ways to get around the ship. However, the fact that everything is more centralized in our view more then made up for that shortcoming. We loved the Royal Princess and will definitely cruise on it again. Less

Our cabin was a nice upgrade from other Princess ships.
