As stated , our first cruise as a family of 2 adults and 3 kids ( 15, 10, 9 ) .
Firstly the staff - amazing ! All worked hard and knew our first names after day one. Ivor at the bar, Judd the deck manager, Eric our cabin steward through to Armando the hotel director - brilliant thank you.
We have no problem at all with the buffet food, hot, plenty and tasty. Tried windows and our only issue was that we felt that service was a little slow but we were in no rush. Didn't try the cover charge restaraunts as we were happy with the freestyle buffet.
Kids club was fab for our 10 and 9 yr olds. They loved going and made some nice friends that they enjoyed spending time with so thumbs up.
Shore excursions - all booked privately and saved about 50% of ships cost so DIY is the way forward people .
Entertainment was above average for us, not butlins and not Vegas but we were happy.
Additional tips of 15 % added to everything so we cancelled our $12 per day per person and the reception were happy to help us cancel so no worries there . Maybe a British thing where we don't enjoy paying twice :)
Met some lovely people onboard and yes, the odd rude person ( who tries to get in lift as emptying or who just asks a chef for 3 instead of 3 please ) but 90 % of passengers we met were great.
Overall, the NCL spirit has opened our eyes to cruising and it has helped us change the way we holiday for the future. We have already booked the ncl escape in the Caribbean january 2nd 2016 !
