Wonderful Time on the Gorgeous Divina
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
My Husband & I decided a month prior to sailing to try MSC Divina to see if it's a ship line we could do in the Mediterranean next year. We are Diamonds on Royal Caribbean, been on Princess, many times on Carnival and even a Costa ship 20 years ago. We were not disappointed with the Divina. We arrived at the terminal around noon, checked in and then waited for our group number to be called so we can board. This is the first time we have ever done this, we waited about 25 minutes. MSC had waters/juices available while you waited. Once on board we went directly to our room, balcony on deck 9. We have been on 20+ cruises and this was one of the nicest/biggest rooms we have ever had. We bought the Allegrisimo Escape Vouchers, 15 for $72 and went straight to the Casino to pick them up. They let us buy 1 more package of 15. Many people bought the all inclusive package and loved it, was the best price of any cruise line we have been on, included gelato, waters, coffee drinks as well. Ship: Is drop dead gorgeous. Accent lights everywhere, music in the halls to your room, nothing in a square linear shape, everything is rounded, curved etc. It really is one, if not THE prettiest ship we have been on. The spa, the most gorgeous. We spent everyday working out, great equipment, never had to wait for anything except the first morning at sea when a little overcast. Other than that, always got a machine. The bars, atrium, gorgeous. The Calumet buffet, was the biggest of any ship we have been on, including the Oasis and Freedom class ships of Royal. But, the buffet was always packed, maybe because Europeans spend more time on lunch and sat longer. The pools/jacuzzis are the nicest we have seen as well. The infiniti pool in the rear of the ship by the Disarono bar was the prettiest view. The waterslide, although not fast as others we have been on, was adequate. Never had a problem getting a chair. It feels like the Divina had more deck space than Freedom class ships even with the Yacht area and the pay area, there was still enough chairs/deck space. The ship is all glass and mirrors, so looking out anywhere on the ship, you didn't have the white banister railings, all glass, so pretty. Even with 4000 passengers on the Divina, the ship disperses people well, it never felt overly crowded, except in the Calumet buffet.
Food: We are not too picky about our food, they are trying to cater to Americans, they are still learning and want feedback. Not any different than Royal or Carnival. The pizza, best I have had at sea except for Carnival Sunshine. They had Mediterranean food, German food, hamburgers/hotdogs, salad, etc all at buffet. Breakfast was typical muffins, croissants, omelets, bacon, sausage etc. Plenty to choose from. Dinner: well, we've had better, it was just ok. I think the pastas were the best. I'm sure in time, they will get better. Our waiters brought out our food quickly, sometimes too quickly. My Husband had the prime rib, ordered rare and it was well done. Again, nothing that would ruin our cruise.Never was offered the fresh cracked pepper or parmesan cheese, we had to ask. The service could be better.
Crew: friendliest in the Calumet, and always on top of cleaning up your dishes and table. The bar waitstaff, could put a smile on their face once in awhile and be a little more friendly/engaging. We usually went to the bar to get a drink instead of maybe seeing someone walk around and ask if we wanted something. We knew this going in, so not a big deal. Bars are everywhere. The Captain was THE most visible Captain we have seen. He was saying announcements every day, he had meet/greets, he was in the show at the end and had a great sense of humor about him.
The Entertainment: Best shows, standing ovations every night. We quit going to shows on other ships because they were so repetitive. The singers/violinists/musicians all around the ship were great.Comedian was funny, It was wonderful just walking by each lounge/bar and listening to them all. Bingo at the pool on sea days. White party was fun out on the pool deck. Casino, not enough blackjack tables ,but it was nice because it is a nonsmoking casino. Entertainment crew did a great job trying to get people to participate.
The Divina is a beautiful ship with a wonderful Captain. They want your feedback and they want to improve on what they need to improve on. We will definitely sail on MSC again. Thanks for a wonderful cruise MSC! Less

Huge cabin with plenty of storage space. Great water pressure. Huge mirrors, big balcony.
Port and Shore Excursions
The Bahamas are beautiful. Been to Coco Cay and Princess Cay so we knew what to expect. Was a beautiful day in the Bahamas. Good food. Bought the $12 mat, so we did not have to get a tender ticket and wait to be called, we just went right to the tender.
Took the water shuttle over to the beach. $7 pp roundtrip. Have been to St Maarten 10 times so we just wanted a low key day. Layed out on the beach.
So glad we did this excursion. Took the ferry over to Virgin Gorda, then a taxi to the Baths. Hiked down to the beaches, snorkeled. Was a beautiful day. Worth the $$ since we were only in port until 2pm and did not want to chance doing it on our own.
A great way to spend a summer ...
