We flew to San Juan a day ahead and stayed at the El San Juan Towers. The room was very nice and we got two "adult" beverages and two breakfast buffets in the Happy Apple restaurant in the hotel included with our room. Walked to the Pueblo to get the Diet Pepsi for the trip (only serve Coke products on ALL cruise lines, so I bring my own), then went to the beach for a little bit. It was very nice and we would stay there again.
Saturday embarkation was very smooth - left the hotel around noon and was on board by 12:45. Went upstairs to get some lunch then off to the room at 1:00. Nice room 8114. Just a few doors down from our last room on the Summit.
Watched the Summit pull out of port that evening. Always a great show there. They have the thalassotherapy pool on board and I spent a lot of time in it. it's adults only and for one session (an hour) I was the only one in it. Other times there were, at max, 8 people in the pool. It was just wonderful. I believe the More
Summit is the only ship with this feature in the adults only section of the ship.
First port was St. Croix. It was our first time there. We took an island tour and stopped in Christiansted where my husband called his sister in VA to get us on the web camera there. It was fun.
Second port was St. Kitts. We waited out about 30 minutes of rain then walked to the shops. BTW that was the only rain we had on the trip until we docked in San Juan, but that stopped before we got off the ship.
Third stop was Dominica - walked off the ship and walked around town for a little while.
Fourth stop was Granada. We went to Grand Anse beach with a couple we met on the plane coming from Charlotte, NC. It was very nice and fun with them. They also sat at our dinner table.
One day at sea before our last stop in St. Thomas. We walked around the Yacht basin and then up to Paradise Point. Because it was Good Friday, no alcohol was being served, but you still had that view.
Our dining room experience was about the best ever. Our table mates were delightful. Including the couple we met on the plane coming from Charlotte, there was a family (mother, father and daughter) who were from Wisconsin. The daughter was high school age and I have a feeling very, very bright. She was in Latin club in school and recently just got back from Harvard to compete in the Latin Jeopardy there - who knew? We all got along famously and had a wonderful time having dinner with these wonderful folks.
Back in San Juan on Saturday. We were off the ship and at our gate in the airport by 9:30. It was very fast and efficient, like always. Flight home was rather rough due to bad storms over the south east.
The only thing I will not do again is book during spring or Easter break. Normally on the Celebrity ships there are maybe a dozen or two kids, on this cruise, due to spring break, there were 300 kinds on board. It's not the way we like to spend our time off. But I did that and won't be doing it again.
It was a great time on the Summit. It was our third time on the Summit, 7th time with Celebrity and 21st cruise over all. Can't wait for the next. Less
