Had an excellent cruise through Indonesia, Malasia, SirLanka, India, and Oman. We are on the Dolphin Deck (1st passenger deck) and have late seating for dinner at a table for 8. Our service has been first rate although the staff have a heavy load. We are addressed by name and our preferences remembered. I am writing this review because I read a negative one and wondered if the reviewer was on the same ship. Yes, there is shuddering and noise when the thrusters engage while docking, but it is not for long and we are used to it. We are 4 star, so obvioulsly, HAL champions. We did have a notice that the water pipes were being flushed one night and that there may be some cloudy water, but it would be safe to use and drink. As for discrimination, we have found that some staff can respond to an unusual request and find what we want while others may respond that it is not available. This happens often to my wife who requests berries for breakfast. The overall response is to do their best to get what we want. A case in point relates to candied ginger after the meal. The ship ran out and did not have it when they were reprovisioned. The bellman felt bad about this and went to the kitchen and got some ginger which he made into a special tea for us. Then to top this, he went to another ship when we were docked and somehow caged some candied ginger from them. Yes, probems do happen on cruise ships and sometimes we dont get the response we want. But our experience is that the staff, within the constraints imposed by the crusie line, do the best they can. We follow the Golden Rule and so do the staff.
