Disappointing

Sail Date: April 2014
Destination: Asia
Embarkation: Singapore

Embarkation at Singapore was quick & smooth no queuing, as was disembarkation at Dubai, We had booked a cabin on decks 4 - 8 But the day before leaving were told it would be on deck 1 This was so noisy what with being right under the dance floor & next to where metal shelves or containers were DRAGGED across the metal floors every night. Passengers in these cabins all complained but nothing was done for the 14 nights, Beware of inside cabin No's 1040s to 1070s Missed not having tea-making facilities we have had on other cruise ships..

Water was dripping everywhere, There were permanent buckets at the entry to Brittania Restaurant & Theatre Wet tables & chairs in the Lido could not be used, the stench of damp carpets was dreadful although there were no end of blowers continually working. No surprise the ship was on Red Alert with Norovirus surely there must be bacteria breeding in all this dampness ?? There was a new case of Norovirus on the day before More disembarkation that I know of so it is still ongoing for the next cruise to Southampton. There were 1,000 new passengers getting on at Dubai

The crew ... with a couple of exceptions ..were a miserable lot I think Cunard should teach them all how to smile, at least & those on the inquiry desk to be able to talk & understand English.

Entertainment was very poor the first week, couldn't the entertainment organisers notice people leaving the theatre throughout the performances ? The Violinist was the star of that week. The 2nd week improved with dancers & acrobats but was still not up to the standard of entertainment compared with other ships we have sailed with. No scenery or West End Show atmosphere.

Ports of call Kelang. Shuttle bus took you to a Shopping Mall in the middle of nowhere . Did not go to Kuala Lumpur very expensive tour, those who went said it was so-so not worth the price. -Penang did the island tour by private taxi enjoyed that. Colombo Port a long way to taxis etc, Mombai filthy, couldn't move for beggers & having babies thrusted at you, live & dead rats on the pavements. Had to pay £240 for Visor for that pleasure !! No wonder we never saw any other passenger shjps at these ports. From here all curtains were pulled early every evening & those who had paid extra for their balconies were not allowed to use them evenings, & nothing on top decks because of the PIRATES would see our lights !!! Abu Dhabi a beautiful clean city.. really enjoyed the ships tour very good value. Dubai another clean city with so much to see.

We had first dining in the Brittania. The food was good, nicely presented, always hot & a good varied menu .. Head waiter was polite but not a 'happy bunny' unlike the junior waiter who had a genuine smile (Phillipino) We used the Lido buffet for breakfast & midday meals again a very good selection & tasty food. Could always find a seat. Here must say the crew dealt well with the extra work that was caused by the Red Alert due to Norovirus .

Have cruised 7 times, comparing these have never heard so many people complaining ...with justification. We tried to make the most of this cruise but were disappointed & like a lot of the passengers say no thanks to sailing with Cunard QE again Less
