Overall good cruise

Sail Date: April 2014
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: San Juan

Embarkation was easy - there was not much of a line at 3:00 p.m. We were greeted with glasses of champagne, which I love!!!

Acqua Class - We upgraded to the aqua class because the salesperson promoted access Michael's lounge as part of our package. Well that was not the case, Michaels was open only to guests in suites. Not happy about that, but not much we could do. Acqua class was not worth the money for us. We used Persian Gardens once and were not overly impressed.

Restaurants/Bars - The staff were most impressive. Blu was good and a bit more intimate than the main dining room. The food was great in both places. Overall, the restaurant staff were outstanding regardless of where you ate. It is amazing how when we ate in Qsine - the sommelier knew what wine we drank - from the staff in Blu. Qsine was alot of fun and so much food - worth it. The back bar staff - Ricky - always remembered our drinks. The wine bar was outstanding and the bartender/sommelier was very More knowledgeable about the wines. He also remembered what we liked and made recommendations accordingly. The premium drink package is worth the money. The buffet staff were also fantastic and remembered preferences day to day.

Our room attendant was great. He checked in with us every morning and evening asking if we needed anything. The room was clean. I thought there was more storage in our stateroom on this cruise than others we have been on. Our balcony was not as big as on other ships and we did not get much sun at all on our balcony.

Disembarkation was fine - slow.

Ports -- regardless of the port, be prepared to pay for chairs and umbrellas.

Puerto Rico - Wish we could have visited the beach - it was beautiful. Our flight was later so we took a tour that was offered outside the terminal. $20 each and was worth it.

Puerto Rico airport was ridiculously SLOW. Leave plenty of time for that. Lines for the restroom were unreal. By far the worst airport I have ever been to. Less

AquaClass was not worth the money for us. We were mislead while booking that this would give us access to Michael's Lounge - not the case.

Port and Shore Excursions

Emerald Pool

(5)

We booked our excursion last minute on the ship. It was well worth it. Again, you can get the same trip outside the terminal for cheaper. Emerald Pool was beautiful!!! It was cool and refreshing. The bottom is rocky - you definitely need water shoes.

Grenada - Be weary of the water taxi - Although the price is good - $4 each way - you are forced into buying a roundtrip ticket regardless You are not told that until you are on the boat under way. They pack the boats so that you are on top of each other and do not leave until the boat is full. The staff are not afraid to push you closer to the person next to you. On our trip back to the ship - the boat was almost full and some of the people had sat there for about 1/2 hour. The water taxi staff are not nice at all. We met a couple who had a land taxi beat the price of a water taxi outside the cruise terminal. Grand Anse beach was beautiful!! Lots of places to rent chairs. Be prepared to be followed down the beach with offers of chairs and drinks. The beach people are super nice, and it is how they make their money to live on - something to keep in mind because it can get annoying.

City Tour

(5)

We had a later flight so we took advantage of a tour offered outside the cruise terminal. It was just as much as a taxi so it was worth it. We had a tour of the city and time to shop before going to the airport. San Juan is beautiful - we wish we had more time to go to the beaches.

St. Croix - Beach was beautiful, and there are a few beaches close to the ship. Paid $20 for two chairs and an umbrella on Rainbow Beach. We spent the day there so it was worth it. Good beach bar. Taxis are priced by trip - so if it's $20 to the beach - that's the price for 2 or 4.

St. Kitts - took advantage of a tour offered when we got off the ship in the square outside the terminal - much cheaper. We had a great tour guide and saw the entire island. Spent some time at the beach. Very pretty island.

Sailing

By far the BEST excursion ever!!! We did an excursion on Bones pirate schooner - worth every cent and every minute. I cannot say enough good about Al, Dillon and Daren - who were the crew on our boat. They made this as exceptional as it was. The sailing was unreal. The snorkeling was great - saw sea turtles, swimming and the beach were beautiful. The bbq on the beach was very good!! We did book this through Celebrity because it was an all day excursion it was a bit more expensive, but - we just didnt want to take the chance of getting back late. The boat won't leave without you if you book through them.
