after disembarking from the ziederdam on the same day, we strolled across to the maasdam, one of our favorite hal ships. we have sailed the maasdam on the 'voyage of the vikings' and 'atlantic adventure' and greatly enjoyed them both.
this was our first southern caribbean cruise, and thought all visited ports were interesting, curacao being a favorite, along with st barts.
the maasdam has aged well, and we found all public rooms to be sparkling clean.
our cabin, 734 on 4deck(you figure it out) was an outside and very large. as usual, our cabin steward was excellent, and fortunately had no room issues.
food was par excellence, especially in the main dining room. we had anytime dining, which turned out to be 7:45 every evening with same waiter, asep.
our table mates claimed the escargot to be "better than they ate in france."
if we had to pick a reason why hal is our preferred cruise line, i would say the premier reason is the indonesian crew, always a sincere smile and greeting(salamatdidooooooooodle).
entertainment was typical cruise ship. but why oh why so darn loud?
library books need updating, and explorations cafe served excellent coffees and fun hot and cold beverages at nominal cost.
all in all, a wonderful cruise, and will sail the maasdam in the future.
