Wonderful first ever cruise.

Sail Date: April 2014
Destination: Europe - Eastern Mediterranean
Embarkation: Venice

First of all we have spent time in some great locations all over the world mainly in 5 star hotels. We decided to try a cruise for a change - we had never done one before - and we had a wonderful time. We were a bit nervous as we had read some very negative reviews about MSC cruises, but those people who left negative comments must have been very hard to satisfy!

Embarkation at Venice took quite a long time but with so many passengers to get on this was understandable. We had a lovely balcony cabin on deck 13 - on the port side of the ship which made it interesting when we came into each port. The cabin steward was so attentive and looked after us so well, and kept the cabin spotless.

We ate in the dining room each night (L'arabesque) and had the first sitting which we had requested. We were allocated a table with a lovely family. The food was varied - there was no dish repeated on the 7 night cruise - and very good. Yes the portion sizes were quite small for each More course, but you could have up to 5 courses. We chose to have the drinks package (allegrissimo) and that was definitely worth doing. The waiters at table were so friendly, and as we all drank white wine, were given a couple of bottles, and could as for more if we wanted to.

We ate breakfast and lunch in the buffet mostly, although you could eat all meals in the restaurant and be served if you wanted to.

All the public areas were spotless, and you could always find somewhere to sit even in the busy times.

The itinerary was what attracted us to this cruise - we visited Olympia, Ephesus, Istanbul and Dubrovnik. We opted to prebook tours with Cruisingexcursions.com and they were good value with excellent guides.

Disembarkation was well organised and went very smoothly for us.

All in all we had a fantastic cruise, and I am already looking at where we might go with MSC next year! Less

Cabin review: MSC Preziosa 13157

The cabin was so well equipped with loads of storage. The bathroom was also so well appointed. We were even able to put our cases under the bed - they have thought of everything!
