Sail Date: Mar 2014

Due to snow and ice in st. Louis the day we left we missed our flight from Atlanta to Miami by 6 minutes. A carnival agent called us immediately to say they had booked a flight for us to Nassau and we would board the conquest the next day. We checked with delta about our luggage and we were told our luggage would follow us immediately and not to worry. When we reached the delta flight for Nassau we were once again told our luggage would meet us in Nassau! Wrong! No luggage that night! We called delta and were told our luggage would be at our hotel before we left for the port the next morning. Wrong! We boarded the ship and went directly to guest services. They made several calls and we were told our luggage was in Miami (we never were) and it would arrive in Nassau at noon and would be on the ship before we sailed. Wrong! When we were getting ready to sail we were on our balcony and saw our luggage headed to the gangway! We were so excited. I called guest services to tell them it was there and before I could finish talking to them my husband comes in to tell me that our luggage went back away from the ship. I almost cried but then guest services told us our luggage would meet us in St. Thomas on Wednesday (this day is only monday). We called delta and our insurance company (thank goodness we always have gotten trip insurance). They both told us to buy what we needed on board. Has anyone ever tried to buy underwear, swimsuits, or any ladies clothing on board a cruise ship?! They have a swimming suit and a pair of shorts for my husband. He was still in winter clothes from st. Louis. I bought a beach dress that was too long. I took my cuticle scissors and an hour later I had cut 8" off the bottom. Carnival provided us with two white tee shirts ( I couldn't wear mine because I only had black underwear! They also provided us with free laundry service so we could wash our two day old clothes. Thank god for that! I'm sure the other passengers appreciated that!

When we arrived in st. Thomas we couldn't wait to get to guest services to get our luggage and wear the clothes we had bought for the cruise. Wrong! Guest services told us they could not get our luggage because we were not accompanying it. Our question was how did it get to Miami without us?? We were then told they would be putting our luggage on a different carnival ship and it would meet us when we got to Miami on Sunday. (We did not accompanying it to this other carnival ship). We could not wait to see st. Thomas since we had never cruised there! Wrong! We spent the day in the st. Thomas k-mart!! What fun, but we did buy some things to get us home in. The night before we were to port in Miami we then realized we had no luggage to get all our purchases home. Great! We had to buy a suitcase on board. The good news was when we docked in Miami our luggage was there! As soon as we got home I started the claiming of the additional $1200.00 that we had not planned on spending for items we didn't want or need. Fortunately we were reimbursed for all the extra expense. The only thing is - our cruise was ruined. Delta and carnival thinks we should be glad we got our money back. It would have been less stressful if we were really positive we would get our money back in full. Yes we are glad we received money due us but we basically did not get the cruise we had looked so forward to. Oh yes, delta did give us a voucher for $100 for our next flight - if we ever fly any place again!

Cabin Review

We loved this cabin. It was the biggest cabin we have stayed in and the balcony was larger and had an actual lay down lounge chair. First time we had ever stayed aft. A little more movement but jest rocked you to sleep every night!! It was just a long walk to most of the places we went . a little more inconvenient but we would stay there again. Very quiet.
