Sail Date: April 2014
Destination: Western Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

The wife and I have sailed twice on Princess 7 day cruises are Gold level Carnival passengers and this NCL experience was by far the best cruise ever. Arrived in Miami from an early flight from NJ. Took a taxi from the airport to the dock at the fixed rate of $24.00, ( not a bad deal ). Walked right into terminal B and in less than 20 minutes we were on the ship. Easiest embarkation ever, and that includes Carnival upgrade for gold level suite early embarkation.

The ship is a wonderful size, about 85,000 tons or so. Not too big and not too small. Not the easiest to navigate at all levels but not a real concern. Never seemed too crowded to maneuver around after shows and events. The decor is very nice and color scheme is soothing in muted hues.

Our mini-suite was smaller than on the other ships we've been on as was the bathroom, but the bed was comfortable, and the cabin was always clean and towels and glasses were always repenished, by our great steward Rouelle. More

We opted for the Ultimate dining package for our cruise which allows you to eat at any specialty restaurant your entire cruise in stead of the main dining rooms. It is the best deal anywhere, land or sea. For $119.00 a person for the week we ate at Cagney's steakhouse 4 times and Le Bistro the French restaurant twice and Moderno the Brazilian steakhouse once. Being from Atlantic City, a casino town with many fine dining options at the local casinos in town, Cagney's offered up the best streak dinner I have ever had. At home here in one of the casinos, our one steak dinner would have been around $120.00 to $140.00. It truly was like getting 5 excellent meals fro free. The French restaurant Le Bistro was also awesome, great duck, and beef, and superb service. Our waiter in Cagney's Red was a joy, a warm sweet man and Lanoy in Le Bistro was so wonderful too.

The entertainment was very good from the 4 Seasons tribute group, Oh What a Night, to Second City, to the comedian and of course the production shows, where the singers and dancers were certainly a cut above the other performers we have seen on Carnival. There was always something to do and yet you never felt forced to partake.

Our excursion to the Mayan ruins at Altun Ha in Belize was a really wonderful day. Transport to the site was easy and drama free. Our guide Christioan was wonderful. We opted for the river ride from Altun Has back to Belize City and Christian made it a real fun time. He made sure the boat took a leisurely trek down the river and even stopped the boat many times so there were photo ops with the crocs, iguanas, bats and birds all along the river. It was great.

Debarkation was so simple, we opted to self disembark, we had breakfast, took our suitcase, walked down to the promenade and in 5 minutes we were off the ship and in about 15 we were in the cab back to the airport.

I would recommend being a Norwegian to anyone wanting a great cruise experience and a wonderful vacation. Less
