For our second Moody Blues Cruise (the first was in 2013), we travelled again from Bahrain to board the ship in Miami - last years vessel was MSC Poesia which was a first class ship, but my goodness this year excelled with the 2 year old MSC Divina. The Italians certainly know how to sail in style - the ship providing excellent facilities throughout and spotlessly clean.
At around 2700 passengers on board, and not at full capacity, the ship was easily crowd free, except to say that this was a music cruise and of course all the artists appearances were well attended but never overly crowded. Our previous cruises include Crystal, Silversea, and Regent considered by many to be at the top of the game - our vote would be for the Divina over any of these lines.
Modern, contemporary features provide a vibrant and bright environment and the vast expanses take some time to get your bearings. We were fortunate in obtaining a room in the Yacht Club which is at the forward end of the ship at the higher levels - we were on level 15. The Yacht Club is the "exclusive" section of the ship with seperate pool, lounge, bar, and deck areas - absolutely stunning!! The room, as expected, provided bathroom with basin, WC and shower over bath, together with small walk in wardrobe space. The double bed was of good size and the room had a small balcony equipped with 2 chairs. Room size the same as most current day "all suite" ships.
The suite size was notof priority to us on this cruise as much as the top line artists (moody blues, zombies, Carl Palmer, roger Daltry). On entry to the room, the bathroom (basin, WC and bath with shower over) was on the left, with a small walk in wardrobe after that - adequate for my wife's wardrobe contents but alas not mine!! I was designated a floor to ceiling shelf unit about 40cm wide plus my suitcase below the bed - quite kind if my wife really!! The double bed was more than adequate size (I am 6') and extremely comfortable - even a detailed descriptive choice of pillows was on offer- something we have not seen on the major cruise lines. A sofa and coffee table, together with dressing table, tv, and stocked fridge (all free) complimented what was a spotless contemporary designed suite. The balcony only enough for 2 chairs and small table. However, by comparison to other lines we have cruised (crystal, regents, Silversea) this ship more than holds its own and for us, the MSC ships (we have now sailed the Poesia and Divina) will be our guest choice. The Divina, only 2 years old did not show any signs of wear and tear - absolutely spotless!!
