We're a couple both in early 30's. This was our third cruise, we've been with NCL and RCCL before. We embarked in Hong Kong and went to Tapei (Taiwan), Kogoshima, Kobe (Kyoto) and Yokohama (Tokyo).
- Room was the biggest we have ever had (inside)
- Service was polite, super nice at the lobby bar
- Food was very average, better in the buffet horizon court than in the traditionnal dining. Sabbatini's (25$/pp) was excellent. Steakhouse was horrible (no sauce, no nothing..) (25$/pp). Pizza by the pool is excellent and the special coffees are good too. By the way you can use a card that lowers a lot the price.
We took an excursion with Princess in Taipei, at a hot spring and then at Yehliu park. Do not waste your money. A LOT of waiting and nothing special.
We did a tour again with Princess in Kogoshima, went to Kamikaze museum (nice but only in japanese). Also went to Chiran were the samouraï houses.
The ship did not offered a tour in Kyoto so we hired a private guide through toursbylocals. Absolutely a must-see. Trains to get to Kyoto were very complicated especially for a first time.
We also did a private tour in Tokyo to see a Sumo practice, also a must see. (IJCEE)
Note that the ship does not offer a transfer to Tokyo, which is far from Yokohama. It is doable by train if you don't have a lot of luggage. You also have to bring your suitecases down and up the stairs. Taxis were someting like 150$.
To get back to Narita airport use the train Narita Express, absolutely simple and best way to go. 30$/pp
