Eastern Caribbean Cruise

Sail Date: March 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

The good:  Embarkation process was fast about 30 minutes

The central Atrium ( Piazza) on the 5th floor is impressive

Luggages were delivered within 90 minutes

The Horizon Court (buffet) on the 16th deck has enough capacity and the food stations are well designed. Quality of food there was very good.

The room with balcony on the 9th floor is well designed TV has a good choices of recent movies (free)

Princes allows one bottle of wine per passenger to be taken on board

The room attendant was very good

Some of the shows in the theater were very good

Only adult pool

The bad:  Room is smaller than similar rooms on other cruise ships

Frame of balcony door was creaking continuously

The drain of the shower was blocked

One of the bed lamps was not properly secured

Note: we got all those problems fixed as soon as we mentioned them to the cruise ship staff. More

There were several power failures during the week.

There are no stairs in the middle of the ships betwen the 7th floor and the 16th floor.

The dining rooms Allegro, Symphony and Concerto on the 5th and the 6th floor block the circulation between the back of the ship and the middle of the ship. Passengers have to go back up to the 7th floor to reach these rooms.

There are no card room on board. We tried to find a quiet place to play bridge without success except for 2 hours in the afternoon in one of the empty dining rooms.

There are no lectures on how to play bridge, how to use tablets, computers, photography, personal development, classical quartets, etc..Royal Princess is only accommodating what the typical American likes: Jeopardy, Trivia games, face lift seminars, Wake Show Live, etc...

We were not able to find places to listen to classical music as we did on previous cruises.

Royal Princess seems to have been designed to pack the maximum number of passengers and to favor the activities where people are more likely to spend money on bar bills.

The casino smelled of smoke but not as bad as previous cruises.

The quality of food in the Allegro dining room varied from sometimes excellent to sometimes mediocre. Staff in the dining room while attentive to our needs seemed to service more tables than the staff in previous cruises. The passageway in the Horizon Court were too narrow resulting in collision with passengers carrying food.

The live TV had limited numbers of channels. ABC, NBC and CBS were not there. No Canadian TV channels either.

The theater was smaller and could barely accommodate all the passengers over two sittings

The floor around the adult swimming pool was very slippery when wet Less
