Bahamas Celebration Cruise Review by DinFL: Don't believe the bad reviews - It is what you make of it!
Don't believe the bad reviews - It is what you make of it!
We went with a group of 16 and let me tell you we had a blast and will do it again!!!
Embarking a total breeze!!!! we got there around 11:45 - we were through the line in no time and on the ship! (Secret tip - don't check you luggage...carry it on...it saves a ton of time!) rooms aren't ready until 2 pm, so you have to carry your luggage around with you - but we each just had a duffle bag so we were good (we were only there for 2 nights - didn't need much!)
Is the ship a little dated? Yes...but it is clean, clean, clean! (reminiscent of a 90's Ramada) But again clean, clean clean!
Are the rooms small? Yes, but remember this is a 1200 passenger converted Ferry ship - not a 6000 passenger cruise ship! and the Ocean view room was more than adequate for what we needed it for (sleeping and getting ready) and it was again, clean, clean, clean!
Staff was AMAZING!!!! Marwin (Tiki Bar), Kammel & Courtney (Crystal Dining Room), Nelson & DiDi (Pub More 437), Eunice, Molly, Rico (Casino); All wonderful and all made our trip great!!!!
Music was constantly rockin in the pub, everyone got into it!
Casino was a blast (we won some & we lost some!!!) But we had fun the whole time!
We purchased drink tickets and they came in handy (secret tip - don't use them for beer & wine only mixed drinks) You get your money's worth that way - pay cash if you want beer or wine! (They do buckets of beer - buy 3 get 1 free)
Food - decent, plentiful and good for what you paid for the cruise!!! Remember folks - you are not at a 5 Star Restaurant here! Keep it in perspective!!!!
Pool Deck Buffet had good hotdogs, fries, sandwiches, cookies, etc...Also breakfast up there in the am!
Italian Restaurant - Open late night (we ate there at 3 am 1 night) Good Pizza!!!
Rio - not really a Churassco steakhouse as they advertise....just a teaser of meats being walked around (secret tip - if you want an entrée of any of those meats...just ask & they will bring you a whole plate) - it is however a decent buffet with several entrée options to choose from! Good Prime Rib! They also do the buffet lunch there every day.
Crystal Dining Room - (fyi - they enforce the dress code - so be aware & bring pants!) More elegant setting than Rio - many options to choose from (starters, salads, soups, entrees, desserts) All good - not amazing - but good!
Never tried the Ice Cream place or the Burger Bar - as we were always full from eating everywhere else!
Comedy show was fun & interactive! A nice break from the hot sun!
Speaking of sun - almost all of our group did excursions in the Bahamas - a few of us stayed on the ship & lounged by the pool!!! Great thing to do...we literally had the pool to ourselves for several hours!
Disembarking - again a total breeze! We got up early on Sunday - had our paperwork filled out & literally was off the ship & waiting for our valeted cars in about 1/2 hour!
So would I recommend this to anyone else??? Absolutely! If you go in not expecting the Ritz or a Supersized Cruise ship - you are going to have a blast!
A super great inexpensive way for us Floridians to get away for a day or two!!!!
Highly Recommended!!!!!!!!!! Less
