We enjoyed our second cruise on the Westerdam. Everything went smoothly on embarkation day. We hit a rush of travelers at the airport and had to wait a bit for a taxi. The traffic getting into the port was heavy and luckily the Westerdam was at terminal 19 so we bypassed the traffic. The terminal was not backed up and we dropped the luggage and made our way inside and checked in immediately. We boarded directly after that and made our way to the Lido for some lunch.
The ship did not seem full so never really ever waited for anything. Could always find a chair or a seat for a show.
Our cabin was nice. The bed as usual was comfortable. No issues with temperature. The bathroom did have a musty odor. The shower curtain and mat were moldy. They were changed before we had to ask. The balcony was very large. The ship was upgrading their WiFi network. They sent a letter letting us know that work would occur starting at 9AM. Well they were outside my cabin at 7:15AM! I mentioned it to our cabin steward who said he would tell his superior. Next day was okay. Next day back at it at 7:30AM.
Dining room was good as was the Lido. Staff was very good. Our cabin steward Pandee was very efficient along with the assistant steward Adanan.
BB King band good but did not play as much Blues at I expected.
We dined at The Pinnacle Grill. It was good but feel it was better on the Veendam.
They also changed the beef supplier. No more Sterling beef.
The rest of the entertainment was good.
Disembarkation started early, sort of too early. Mini bar staff walking in to the cabin at 6:30AM. We were stil in bed. The Westerdam was going to dry dock after this cruise so I think they were anxious to get done and underway. They were loading shipping containers on deck while we waited.
The ports were all ones we have been to before but who cares. Happy to be away from the cold back home.
Went to El Yunque rain forest and it was the highlight of our cruise.
This was our 7th HAL cruise. They are on the top of our list.
We will be cruising with them again.
