Just got home from a 7 day cruise on The Carnival Glory. This ship may have been updated in 2012 but you couldn't tell. The rooms had 1 electrical outlet for use and the beds were rock hard. The walls were paper thin and it sounded like someone was in the halls cleaning out the dishwasher every night at 1 AM. The employees were rude and didn't care about pleasing you or making you happy. No need to make the customers happy since they don't need to work for their tips anymore. Automatically charged to your account on second to last day of cruise. The sit down dinners in the dining rooms took 2-2 1/2 hours because of under staffing. It took 20-30 minutes to get drinks unless you wanted something from the bar and needed to pay for it. The food was ok. Nothing special. Menu was the same items every night with the exception of formal nights. (Lobster was added) There are only 2 pools...don't be fooled by Carnival saying 3 pools on the ship. The chairs around the main pool is limited and what is available is moved because of dancing and other activities in the afternoon. The water slide was closed down for 3 out of 7 days due to "maintenance" reasons.
Not sure we will ever go on another Carnival cruise again. They have a lot of updating to do to keep up with the other cruise lines. You will see what I mean if you book a Carnival cruise and dock next to the other amazing ships. Do your investigation on other cruise lines...don't book because of the cheaper price. We have cruised on Royal Caribbean in the past and was very happy with everything they offered.
