THOMSON DREAM! PLATINUM STANDARD? DREAM ON!
We have just returned from a 2 week cruise in the Southern Caribbean,aboard the Thomson Dream, sorry to say we will not be returning.
I have cruised on this ship on 2 previous occasions in the past three years, and have always felt satisfied and have enjoyed the holidays, and felt we have a good holiday at a reasonable cost, with friendly and helpful staff.
The ship has had some refitting of the floor coverings and soft furnishings in some of the public rooms and cabins.
The ship is kept clean and the staff work really hard to achieve this.
There are some major issues that Thomsons need to address; the food was awful, bland, cold, poor quality food, the leftovers were on the menu the following day, although presented slightly different!
There were long queues at the self service restaurant.
The ice cream machine remained empty for 4 days.
The pasta bar has now been re- located on Sirens deck, but this is not open all the More time,
Although you can now purchase steaks in the ORIAN restaurant at an additional charge!
The theatres are not big enough for the amount of people on board, and there is a great rush and a queue forms 60 minutes before the start time!
Thomsons have addressed this issue by selling VIP SEAT TICKETS AT £9.95 per person for a 45 minute show, which guarantees you a seat.
The hard sell is very evident throughout the boat, constantly pushing extras, such as water bottle holders, wine packages.- guess the weight of the cake- how many sweets are in the jar- you name it they did it.
They even sold £10 tickets for a raffle for one of the suites for 5 nights.-Obviously it was vacant, but they were going to get there money for it come what may.
Lack of sun beds, comfortable sets is disgusting, on days at sea, people are putting towels on the beds at 5.30 am, we spent sea days sat on our towels on the deck floor, as it was impossible to get a seat outside, and many other people did the same.
The staff did not address the issue, although they did say towels would be removed from the beds if they had been left unattended for more than 45 minutes, however nobody implemented this.
It was like a free for all.
The onboard internet is very slow, and has a poor connection, this obviously is due to the satellite delivery and is fair enough, however Thomsons still charge you from the moment you try to log on,which was unacceptable, you paid for 30 minutes and if you were lucky you got 10 mins usage.
Other reviews as the ship being like BUTLINS at Sea, and I would endorse this opinion. Less
