Exceptional and wonderful; style and value!
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)
This was our first celebrity crews although we have cruise on HAL, RCI and NCL both in a mini suite and several times in the Haven, so we had quite a lot of different benchmarks to measure the Silhouette against.
What a superb boarding experience fast, polite, efficient and every single member of staff had a genuine smile and as you step on board a genuinly drinkable glass of bubbles which helped. We spoke to Guest Relations on two minor issues regarding booking some excursions and a possible upgrade and compared to one or two other departments they were one of the best.
Aqua Class Cabin
The Aqua class value is excellent but the actual physical cabin is one of the smaller cabins we've had over the years the balcony is well furnished but tight and the lack of a bath tub is disappointing however the service from the cabin stewards, again, was at the highest level. The layout of the cabin was cleverly designed with sufficient storage and More enough space not to feel crowded with a comfortable mattress and good bed linen.
Let's start with Blu restaurant, this is the dedicated Aqua facility and rather undersells itself on the Celebrity website. It stresses it's healthier option approach but is in fact a high level of fine dining with an excellent range of courses and on the premium beverage package a range of wines by the glass that complements the food well. Service is one of the best with genuinely warm waiters, maitre d' and hostess, good conversation and swift service. The layout of the restaurant is very clever and you never feel crowded but there is an opportunity to chat to other couples are at tables are neighbouring at yours should you wish we certainly had some fun discussions over breakfast and dinner?
We also sampled Murano, Bistro on Five, the Oceanview cafe and Qsine. Murano is a traditional French fine dining restaurant which executes its products well we would certainly go back and the food was of the highest quality Bistro and Oceanview are what they are and we had some wonderful lunches in both and again service of the highest quality.
Qsine is a very different experienc and great fun the food is lovely but it is fusion food rather than cutting edge fine dining.
The premium beverage package is phenomenal value we do enjoy cocktails and wine and this package saved us several hundred dollars on past experience the Molecular bar and the Martini bar are particular highspots and the willingness of bar staff to move quickly to fill an order, use premium brands and never quibbled with any customers in my hearing, some of whom did like a heavier pour!
Wine by the glass on premium is good not fantastic but I never had a problem matching and appropriate wine to dishes in any of the restaurants we ate it.
The entertainment was good I have seen better shows on cruise ships but I have also seen far worse the range of mainstream and adult entertainment was fun at the timing of the shows worked well for a whole range of passengers and we certainly made the effort to see the last night show up which I think reinforces how much we enjoyed the range of art show is available.
Well organised, quick, pleasurable and stress free.
Our yardstick is can I get up slowly enjoy my breakfast and still get a sunbed within a reasonable area of the ship and relax, answer 100% yes! We had nearly 4C days in this itinerary and not once with a full ship did it feel crowded or unpleasant and access to the Persian Gardens was a real bonus.
Value for Money could not be faulted and the true sign of a satisfied customer is would you go back, we have booked two more cruises for the next 12 months! Less
