Ship Facts: Discovery Review (by Cruise Critic!)
In search of the Northern Lights

We have just returned from a trip to Norway in search of the Northern Lights and everything about it was superb. The staff made the holiday; they were exceptionally friendly, efficient and courteous. The cleanliness of the ship was second to none, as was the food.

Perfectly adequate accommodation. Clean towels and bedding every day and toiletries, hair dryer and safe provided. Sufficient storage and comfortable beds. The only thing that could be improved on was the television.

At first I thought the excursions were expensive, but they were well worth it and value for money. It was a pity we didn't see the Northern Lights on the planned excursion but the excursion planners gave us all a dvd of the lights to help compensate towards our disappointment. The Captain made sure that we were informed as soon as he spotted the lights from the ship on two consecutive nights, so all was not lost.

The entertainment was good and there were plenty of activities on board. The scenery was magnificent and the Captain informed us of points of interest throughout our trip. After the Northern Lights, the Husky sledging was the highlight of the holiday, and not forgetting the excursion in deep snow to the North Cape, the coaches travelling in convoy behind a snow plough. Birthdays on board were recognised and made special with a cake and the dining room staff singing Happy Birthday. I would travel on Discovery again without hesitation.
