After a number of cruises some years ago, we finally got back to it and it was different. From previous trips to the Oasis of the Seas with over 6000 passengers, more people than in our town in MA, we expected a mob scene. However, with the size and breadth of the ship, it was great. So many things to do, shows to attend, restaurants to try, not to mention the usual excursions. The only time it got crowded was the lifeboat drill, but the rest was great. On the tech side, the ships now use thrusters which not only make it more maneuverable, but can also be used to counter wave motions and stabilize the ride.
A few things were quite expensive, but there were also many activities which were free, like the zip-line, mini-golf, surf simulators and a variety of options to occupy the kids if you bring them along.
As usual the meals were outstanding and the service excellent. If anyone wants to learn what customer service is all about, just take a cruise. The other great thing is getting to 80 degree weather especially with the extremely cold winter we were experiencing. Just a thought right now, but the inaugural voyage of Quantum of the Seas in late November sounds most enticing.
Most rooms were about the same, except for inside or outside balconies. However the size and amenities were all about the same.
