I've been on many cruises, but had not sailed on NCL before. When some of my neighbors mentioned that they were going on this 5 nighter I decided to join them. I booked thru an internet booking site and got a great price about 3 weeks before the cruise.

I booked an oceanview guarantee and got upgraded to a balcony room. It was on the 10th deck or Norway deck and was in a great location. The first thing I noticed on the Sun was that the passenger cabins are not all on lower decks and that the entertainment, shopping and some dining decks seem to be sandwiched between the "sleeping" decks. It was very convenient to get around once you figured out that on this ship "you can't get there from here". Lots of times the aft elevators which were closer to our cabin would take you to deck 5 to one dining room, for example, but you couldn't get anywhere else from there. You had to walk way down the hall and take the forward elevators. Also in order to get to the Kid's Center you had to quickly and illegally walk through the casino or take the elevator to deck 6 or 8 and walk through to the front of the ship and walk up or down a deck.

It wasn't so bad once you got used to the layout. Although I never found the Observation Lounge.
