Ship Facts: Carnival Splendor Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Carnival Splendor Deck Plans
Absolutely FABULOUS time on the Splendor!!

Just returned from the March 25 sailing on the Splendor to the Bahamas and it was one of the best cruises I've ever taken in forty plus years of sailing! Start to finish, everything was smooth and perfect. I had cabin 1445, my friend was in 1423; we loved the deck and the location, very quiet and serene.

Surprisingly, I did not find the pink décor overwhelming...it was quite welcome after our non-stop grey winter in NYC. Very clean ship (a little tatty but that's to be expected in an older ship). Everything was immaculate and the staff did an admirable job of keeping it that way. Cabin stewards were fine as was our waitstaff. Food was always good (I loved the Indian buffet on the Lido deck). Burgers and cheesy fries were a welcome snack in the afternoon...so was the 4:00 AM pizza run after the casino. The shows were Broadway quality with amazing dancing and vocals. We loved the X-rated comedy (and Fluffy, who did a fantastic job). Most enjoyable were the big band and jazz afternoons with the house band in the Robusto lounge...these guys are good enough to play the Blue Note! The casino action was fine...although you can't expect to win on the slots so just play to amuse yourself. Manager of the casino was a very friendly and likeable fellow. The Quest was a blast and our team came in first place with a lot of good natured craziness going on. Malcolm rules!!! Just loved having him as our host...he is funny, charming and always a total pro. The only spot we did not frequent was the piano bar...the disco usually had more fun going on. We were lucky enough to be at the right spot to see the children's Dr. Seuss parade...too cute!!! Oh, and the limbo contest was just great, kids included. Pool deck party night was a blast, too

In Nassau, we walked to the Hilton and paid $55 each for guest passes. Excellent choice...beautiful beach, pool, cabanas, food and drink available on the patio. The waitstaff was dreadful, though...45 minute wait for a sandwich and then the waiter pulled a bit of a scam with the tip. Still, I would visit again...just wiser next time.

Hired Captain Jack to take us around Freeport by taxi...lovely guy, told us the history of the island and many funny stories. If you can find him in the Straw Market, don't hesitate to book him (he asked $15 each but we gave him $25 at the end of the tour since we enjoyed it so much).

Smooth return to NYC and an easy walk off. Sorry to say goodbye to such wonderful crew and staff.

Overall, I would rate this a 9.5 experience and would book the same cruise and ship again. It was a truly excellent time and hats off to Carnival for waiving the supplement!
