Let me start by saying that my wife and I have been on several Princess cruises. We have also traveled with Disney Cruise Line, Norwegian Cruise line and Royal Caribbean cruise line. We had never sailed on the Caribbean Princess. I asked my Brother and his Girlfriend.to go on their first cruise and he agreed.

We found out at our hotel that the ship would be returning late supposedly due to fog and boarding would not begin until 8:30 p.m. because of ship cleaning or the Norovirus. So instead of starting our vacation at 1 p.m., we finally boarded the ship around 9:30 p.m. No offer by the cruise company to compensate passengers for extra meal costs on shore, while waiting to board. No compensation for loosing the first day of your cruise. I take that back. If you decided to eat dinner at 10:30 p.m. you were offered a free beer complements of the Captain for your trouble.

Sunday morning. The breakfast was served cold. Coffee was warm at best. It appeared as the staff was just going through the motions and really didn't care. Of all of the cruises that I have been on, this was the worst service I had seen and we were just getting started. Due to the norovirus, food was being served to you at the buffet. This is normal and had seen it in the past. What was not the normal situation was seeing food servers standing around talking and you would have to ask them to serve instead of them asking you. Again coffee was served warm at best. I really can't explain it. I can only go by past experience on other ships. On the other ships, service was far superior!
