Ship Facts: Jewel of the Seas Review (by Cruise Critic!) | Jewel of the Seas Deck Plans
Royal Caribbean Jewel of the Seas Cruise

The dining experience was great with a couple of great wait staff who did an outstanding job. In the Windjammer where the buffet was we had excellent service from a Head Waiter who helped answer many questions and provided superior service.

A primary issue for us was that the music was extremely LOUD at the shows, lounges, and on 4th floor by Guest Services. Guess RC thought clarity comes with loudness!! We have been on probably 15 cruises and this is the first that we had to wear ear plugs at any musical event. When talking to guest services, the music right there on Deck 4 was so loud that we could not hear each other. I had to have them write it down so I could understand what they were saying. Many people made comments and/or left the theater due to this. Also, a note that on this cruise with the exception of a couple of stand up comics the entertainment left a lot to be desire in quality, type, etc.

The Best of Barbados excursion was very good. Only issue is the bus driver knew more than half of the folks on the island and kept blowing his air horn to say hi. After 3 hours of that nonsense we had a headache!! Otherwise great tour!!

The excursion (South Atlantic...) we took that went to the Southern end of the island of Dominica was pathetic. Very poor tour and tour guide was more of a hyperbolizer. He represented himself and his island of Dominica in a false and exaggerated manner. Was a total waste of money!! Our mini-bus had 11 paxs and was crowded and hot and the same company mini-bus that trailed us at each stop had 2 paxs. But the guide would not let anyone transfer to the other bus even though it was the same company and they would marry up with us at each stop.

We booked a Celebrity Cruise thought the Vacation Planner on the ship. Bottom line is that Vacation Planner was inept in her duties. We asked many questions where she had no clue. She told us we would get an additional $300 discount only to tell us at the end that she was mistaken. She failed to tell us about fees ($640) for the countries we would go to on the booked cruise. It would have been nice to know that up front. I found out by accident that if we didn't pay one of the fees upfront we would not have been allowed to leave the US for that cruise… per Celebrity agent.
