Fantasy cruise is a great value

Sail Date: March 2014
Destination: Bahamas
Embarkation: Charleston

We read so many negative reviews about this ship that we were really thinking about cancelling the cruise- lucky for us we didn't. I am not sure if the people that write negative reviews had one or two things go wrong that soured the entire cruise or they are setting the expectations so high they get disappointed. All I can say is that we had a great time. The ship is over 20 years old but once onboard you would never know it. We had a balcony room and the balcony although small was perfect for us - we got to sit out and watch the sunrise/sunset and see us pulling into the different ports. The room was very clean and our steward Su was excellent. Whenever we left the room it was cleaned and refreshed with towels when we got back - pretty awesome. We had great room service and anything we needed we were met with polite and quick responses.

The dining room food was excellent - we ate there on 4 nights with the first night of the cruise taking part of the buffet which was okay. More Our waiter in the dining room Heath was great - whatever we wanted we got - and quickly.

The entertainment choices were good - the Motown review was fun with it ending up on the main deck on the bar - with people on all levels of the atrium joining in.

The ship handled itself very well - we had some very strong winds and I never felt it move to the point of making me sick - I was impressed

We did the Segway tour in Freeport which was great and the discover atlantis tour in Nassau - also very good.

The only downside was the disembarkation in Charleston was slower than it needed to be but because of the "good people of Charleston" it has to be a silent disembarkation - god knows you don't want 2000 people that are visiting to disrupt your morning coffee - although they are going to add to your tax base. If they could just get the stogy old money people of that city to see the benefit of a world class port and cruise facility - Charleston would become a major cruise port.

We loved the ship and would sail from there again - if only they would add new destinations like Cozumel.

A cruise is what you make of it - if you go on vacation looking for thing to go wrong you will find them - but if you go to have fun - the fantasy can fill that bill.

If you are looking for a relaxing cruise this can be a great release close to home for us north Carolinians.

I hope this ship gets outfitted with the updated serenity deck - this one is a bit small and the college kids took up the two hot tubs through the whole cruise - better yet - change the age of the serenity deck to 25 and make the college kids stay in the main areas so us old folks can truly have serenity without hearing the f-bomb every few minutes.

Great ship - great vacation - great value Less

Cabin review: Carnival Fantasy V1

Very spacious for two people - small balcony but big enough for two. comfortable beds and great steward - Su - we loved the ability to watch the sunrise and see the ports or just have morning coffee on the balcony - would never get an inside room - balcony is so much worth the extra money -
