The cruise itinerary was absolutely brilliant, I think that is what sold it to us, with the exception of Dominican Republic. We just feel they have spoilt it for themselves. We did not have a very enjoyable shore excursion there, and after walking down town we were pestered by adults and children alike, we did not feel very comfortable about the whole thing and were glad to get onto the tender and back to the ship.
The ship was spotless and the crew very courteous and happy. The fellow passengers we talked to were very interesting people with some wonderful stories to tell.
The issues we had were: The open style dining to our minds did not seem to work smoothly. You either joined a table that had already ordered their food or just a table More for two along side similar tables, all of which had just finished eating. This happened to us on more than one occasion. They also wanted to hurry you along clearing our plates as soon as possible. We didn't even get it right in Toscanas either. We booked a table for 8.30 p.m., sat down at 9.15 p.m. to order, and our appetizers arriving at 9.45 p.m. However we ate twice at the Polo Grill and thoroughly enjoyed both the food and the company.
With regards to the food, we had read they claim to be one of the best dining experiences afloat. We think that is a matter of opinion. To our mind we found the menus were uninspiring and sometimes found it hard to select a dish that we liked. We know that the majority of people thought it was great so maybe it was just us!
We also missed the ' wow ' factor of the bars and atrium, while the country club atmosphere was amiable, we found something was missing .
Breakfast was very good with a delicious 'wet museli' at the fruit bar, but trying to find a table to sit at did course a bit of a problem as breakfast was always busy.
The embarkation and disembarkation was very smooth, but why meet in the theatre for every shore excursion, why not let people make their own way to the dock and join their tour guide there.
We have cruised with Princess and Celebrity and we will go back to Celebrity again. We may try Oceania but not for a few years.
