Sail Date: Nov 2013

My husband and I sailed on the Oasis of the Seas November 30, 2013 to celebrate our birthdays. This was our first cruise and we absolutely enjoyed our trip.

Hotel information/Car Rental

We flew into Fort Lauderdale the day before to go Black Friday shopping at Sawgrass Mills. We stayed at the Marriott Harbor Beach Resort. The resort was very nice and we had dinner at the hotel restaurant. And the hotel was very close to the port as well.

Cabin Review

The location of our cabin was great. It was close to the elevators, stairs, promenade, boardwalk, central park, and MDR. And you could access the deck 7 aft balcony at the end of the hall. We watched the water show from here. We had rough seas and the motion of the ship felt like a gentle rock from our cabin and we barely noticed it. The motion felt stronger at the front of the ship when we were at the internet café on Deck 7 near the forward inside cabins. Our cabin was connecting and we didn’t have any noise issues. But I’m not sure if they would say the same about us. I heard their door slam shut on the last day and I worried we might have disturbed them when we returned to our rooms late at night or left early…Our cabin attendant was Derrill. He was very friendly and accommodating. We never bumped into him making up our room and we’d come back to a towel animal on our bed. The best one he made was an elephant wearing my husband’s sunglasses. The washroom was well maintained and very clean. We liked how Derrill disinfected all the surfaces with bleach. There were a few small mold spots on the shower tile grout but that’s from the age of the ship and no amount of bleach will get rid of that. And fortunately the washroom did not have the mildew smell. The carpet could have used a vacuuming but Derrill probably skipped our cabin since we had clothes and shoes everywhere. There’s was lots of closet space and we should have asked for more hangers. But we opened our suitcases on the couch and left them there all week. The bed was beside the closet and we had no problems accessing the closet.Over all we were really pleased with our cabin location. But we plan on staying on Deck 8 next time so we can walk through central park if we need to cross to the other end of the ship.
