We just returned from a 7 night cruise aboard the Norwegian Epic. This was our first cruise, so we can't compare this experience to any other cruises, but we are experienced travelers.
I think there is plenty of information out there about the entertainment and activities aboard the Epic...so I won't go into that other than to say if you don't like Blue Man Group, Howl at the Moon Dueling Pianos, Legends (Elvis, Katy Perry, and Steve Tyler impersonators) Second City comedy, Karaoke, Live blues music, casino (slots and table games) then maybe you are just one of those super hard to please people and nobody should take your reviews seriously. There was so much going on there really can't be any excuse for somebody to say they "were bored".
We ate at the buffets for breakfast and lunch, and upgraded to the specialty dining package to enjoy our choice of Italian, Chinese, Teppan yaki, Steak, Churrascarria, and French. All were very good, but our favorite was Cagney's steak house. They make an excellent 16oz ribeye steak cooked to perfection.
If there was one complaint it would be that there is simply not enough chairs around the pool area, and NCL does a terrible job of enforcing the "no reserving of chairs rule" so if you want to hang out pool side, better plan on getting there early and camping out all day, or just leave stuff on your chair and take off for hours....your chair will still be there. We knew this going in so we just planned other activities of which there were plenty. The kids who hung out at the pool all day seemed to be having fun. We got plenty of sun during the port days so we were fine staying out of the sun.
The crew aboard the Epic are extremely friendly and polite. I personally witnessed several situations of rude behavior directed towards the staff, who responded with friendliness and eagerness to help. Some people just can't be pleased because they are professional whiners...I told one guy to STFU and leave the poor staff guy alone...he was doing the best he can, and there are thousands of other guests on board besides Mr. Entitled. Sheesh.
