First time on Carnival. Way exceeded expectations! Started with getting on the ship. We checked in quickly at the miami airport. Boarding at the ship was quickest ever. Getting off the boat was not bad as well. Allow 30 minutes at least for customs but other than that within hour of leaving boat we were arriving by cab at the airport. Cab ride $24 so way cheaper than carnival transportation.

Food in main dining room was very good. Chose anytime dining which worked well for us. Had same waiter and table by request after second night even though varied time a bit. Actually food and menu better than recent cruises on Royal Caribbean. Guy's Burgers were yummy! Also enjoyed Blue Iguana cantina breakfast burritos and the omelet station.

Inside cabins on 6 and 7 middle back. Quiet and size good for interior. No couch but spend little time in room so didn't miss it and made room feel bigger. Good closet space. Carnival still does towel animal every evening :) unlike some More cruise lines. Room attendants were excellent. Liked the comedy club option.

Ports were awesome! We didn't do excursions as we were with college kids who just wanted beach time. Would not hesitate to cruise carnival again. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

We really enjoyed this stop. Nice to walk off boat and be at beach. If you like craziness, Margaritaville is right at end of dock. They really gouge you on drink prices and too many people for us but beach loungers are free here. We walked down the beach w bit and found spot with volleyball and softer sand (a bit rocky right off boat). Water was beautiful and perfect!

Loved this private island. Beaches were fabulous soft sand with beautiful water. Loved having only our ship there. We rented snorkel equipment but not that much to see so not really worth $20. Didn't do any excursions as just happy to enjoy beach time. Only negative was the tendering. Bit of wait in sun for trip back as they only had one tender going. They added another after line was so long though.

Just walked San Juan on our own. We enjoyed walking on the water front, toured the capital and walked to one fort. There is also a free trolley but we didn't use it as we enjoy walking. There is a CVS off the dock to pick up anything such as soda and sunscreen cheaper than the ship.

Took cab to Magen's beach. They have plenty of cabs at dock and plenty when you are ready to go back. $16 per person round trip. This was way better option for us than excursion where you had limited time and most included shopping or some activity that we didn't want. Cab even stopped on way back at gorgeous overlook for picture op. Had originally wanted to go to St. John's but decided against with all the time that would have been spent getting there. Magen's bay had nice facilities, and rental of paddle boards and paddle boats.
