Once on board we realised the 2 advertised ports of Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh cities were over 2 hours away from the actual port and it was going to cost quite a lot extra to see these cities. We had budgeted our expenses for this holiday and didn't have the money to an additional cost to see something that was advertised as a place we would visit.
We feel like we have been cheated.
We didn't see the cities we had worked hard and saved for, because it was going to cost so much extra per person.
We have cruised with RCI once before and we visited the destinations without additional cost...AS IT SHOULD BE.
How can a cruise line advertise a cruise and then expect it's clients to pay more to see these places?
I agree with most of the reviews regarding this particular cruise. The smoking smell around the casino was shocking.
The hustle and bustle at the windjammer was difficult to negotiate and there was limited stock of thing like peaches and custard apples. If there is not enough for all passengers, the don't serve it. We asked staff about the fruit, on a number of occasions, when we saw others enjoying these fruits and were told each time that there were none left.
The dining room had good food but the service was slow
Our cabin was inside but spacious enough for 2 and was well maintained by the staff each day.
The entertainment was wonderful. We enjoyed the shows especially the ice skating spectacular. The cruise director, Gordon, was exceptional. and truly entertained.
We rock climbed, played putt-putt and ice skated, all were lots of fun and something we would not normally do.
Getting on and off the ship was easy as it was well organised with ample staff.
I can not say the experience was truly enjoyable, as the disappointment of not visiting Bangkok and Ho Chi Minh cities really dampened our enthusiasm.
We enjoyed our first cruise on board the Radiance of the Sea (maybe we were spoiled) but i will be thinking twice about Royal Caribbean next time.
