My wife, two sons(ages 20 and 14) and I just returned from our first cruise. My youngest and I were somewhat apprehensive about cruising. However, the cruise was much more than any of us expected. Despite its age, the ship was very well maintained. The staff was friendly and professional. We were all pleased with the food choices and my wife, who was dieting, found many low fat options. We live in a large metro area where we don't generally allow our 14 year old to venture out much on his own, but on the ship, we felt completely comfortable letting him roam freely. Our cabins, which were on the 6th level, interior, were more spacious than we expected. We all found the beds very comfortable and all slept well - even after napping some days.

As for our ports of call, we went to Junkanoo Beach in Nassau and had lunch at a local restaurant. Enjoyable but I waited to the last minute and did not have a chance to research many options. I found the Carnival-sponsored excursions to be too pricey. It rained the day we docked in Freeport so we only had about 3.5 hours on shore. We shopped at Port Lucaya and had lunch at one of the local spots near the complex.

Some negative aspects of the cruise would be that the pool was too small. Also, it was difficult to get a lounge chair around the pool area/deck (on sea days, you must arrive at the pool area no later than 8:30 or 9:00 am to claim a spot) and internet access was too expensive (more than 50 cents per minute). I would recommend that you bring power strips as well as there is only one outlet in the cabin.
