Embarkation: This was our first cruise, so the whole process from booking to disembarkation was unfamiliar and we felt there was definitely a learning curve for us newbies!

Embarkation day was hectic to say the least! We had already been in New Orleans for 5 days and had just returned to the city from a tour of Old River Road and the lovely plantations there. We had a rental car for our stay and had set up to return in to the Avis office in New Orleans and not at the airport, so we could have a shorter taxi ride to the port. However, no one told us the New Orleans Avis office closed at 1:00 pm  we arrived at 1:05! No one was to be found. We had to drive all the way out to the airport. Avis actually had its manager drive us to the port so we wouldn't have to hire a taxi. We were still frantic though, because we were told to be at the ship at 3:30 pm and we had no idea how long the process took to board. Our internet agency had emailed us paper tags to fold up and staple around our luggage with our cabin numbers, however, they had no stapler at the port entry where you drop off your bags, so we had to write out new ones that the porters gave to us to tie onto our baggage. The staff at the check-in counter were great  very friendly. After getting all our ID cards, there was sweet breads and juice waiting for us before boarding. We declined the pre-cruise picture, as we still felt very stressed from the day. We got right onto the ship with no waiting.

Ship: I was impressed with the emphasis on sanitation the first thing you do as you board is take a squirt of hand sanitizer! This was standard all over the ship. Cleanliness was superb on the NCL Sun. Our bags arrived at our room soon after we did! There was plenty of space in the room for everything. We loved our balcony and spent a lot of time there. The duvet/comforter was not warm enough very thin! The bed was moderately comfortable, but a little creaky. The bathroom shower was a little small, but adequate. The layout of the ship was confusing at times. I was always getting lost. Because of the dining rooms, there are certain decks that you cannot travel the length of.
