Just got off the "new" Sunshine. We took this cruise because we needed a 3 party cabin for other family members and RCCL was booked full for that class that week. So... it was definitely Spring Break on board. Serenity area (adults) was always full+. Main pool area was mobbed. We found quiet spots outside on Deck 4 to veg. Our wait staff was excellent (dinner & room) but other family cabin down hall had newbie maid they were NOT happy with. She didn't do up their room one day at all for instance!!
The Havana Bar area was wonderful--best kept secret we found on Cruise Critic-Thanks. We ate breakfasts (omelets) and lunches (stir fry bowls) overlooking the stern wake in peace and relative quiet. Other foods from the frenzied, overcrowded, poor seating Market Place buffet area could also be taken back there. It was slowly discovered by more people as the cruise week progressed. Pour your own beer dispenser was interesting. Have a second glass handy. It is based on time and you get a huge head no matter how careful, so a 2nd glass handy gives you a full headless glass in the end with two settled and poured together. Guy's Burgers were a deserved hit. Long lines moved quite quickly.
Several of the crew AND OFFICERS were pushy through doorways, scowling, grumpy.
We were reminded that Carnival is not up to RCCL or Princess standards.
Swamp Thang Band at Mixology and Piano Bar had fun entertainment.
This was great all-day tour. 2 1/2 hr bus ride each way. Ruins interesting. Guides knowledgeable and entertaining. Would recommend or go again. Lunch was good and safe. We didn't get sick. Bus was upscale too w/ ac and toilet that all worked.
Walked around and ate at shopping mall at end of pier. Same old same old--and sheltered view of Mexico. "Oh Mexico is so lovely and SAFE"
Reserved a clam shell shade at Mahogany Bay--included Magic Carpet ride. Our weather was VERY HOT 90+ degrees. Clam shell which seemed idea at 9am became unbearable by noon and quit shading the sun shortly there after. We retreated back to ship for late lunch and shade. WHY ISN'T LUNCH PROVIDED ON SHORE LIKE AT OTHER PRIVATE FACILITIES ON CAYS??? This is supposed to be a Carnival exclusive development, but lunch was extra $20.
