We booked this cruise in order to meet up with some fellow cruisers that we had met in 1996 on the Legend of the Seas, Panama Canal cruise. They live in Phoenix, we live in NE Georgia. This was our first time to LA and our first cruise to the Mexican Riviera. We have also cruised Alaska, Hawaii, the Mediterranean, and quite a few trips to the Caribbean.

We flew in on Saturday, Jan 20th, and stayed at the Doubletree Hotel in San Pedro, which overlooks the Cabrillo Marina and LA Yacht Club. We found it was actually cheaper to take a limo from the airport to the Hotel, as well as taking a limo from the port to the airport when we departed. We had been on the Vision before to Alaska in June 2005 and loved it. This time, we did not book any shore excursions, rather we walked into town or grabbed a taxi. We tried to shop off the main drag, as we were told that it was cheaper. Our ports were Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Porta Vallarta. Every port was safe and we were not afraid to be on our own in the towns. The taxi drivers were all polite and fares were more than reasonable.

Embarkation was a breeze, being Platinum members (diamond next cruise)
