We are a couple 50/35 years old. We started cruising 4 years ago and this march cruise was our 4th.
We sailed Carnival/Princess/RCCI before. We decided to sail with HAL this march because we are planning a world cruise for January 2017 and HAL is a good option for it.
The Amsterdam not being available for us we decided to ''audition'' HAL on another ship the Eurodam.
Maybe this was a mistake. Different ship could have ended with a different review I guess.
The Eurodam has for us a few MAJOR flaws but does not do everything bad.
Embarcation was a breeze. Perfect score there.
Ship itself is nice but not spectacular in any means. Commercial ship made to make money. Clean but made with cheap materials. Passage note there at best.
Cabin standard inside stateroom 7129 was not good for us. We do understand its a inside stateroom and we pay less etc etc...but its the first time we have a room so small that there is no room for a More
sofa or even a chair.
If we had to sit it was on the bed or on a square box hidden under a small desk. Way too small.
Bathroom was ok and storage was adequate.
Day activities are reduced to a bare minimum as the ship has a big entertainment crew of...2.
Night entertainment was very good. Evening shows and HALCatz were good and fun. Good job there.
Dining is what killed us the most. Evening dining in the main dining room is a VERY important feature for us. Food was not a wow by any means. Scored easily last of all the ships we sailed before. My wife score 2 of our plates as 'mediocre'. I asked her to verify my initial tought.
We tried the Tamaring one night and this one was spectacular and very good. A must.
Staff all over the ship was great. Absolutely no complains there.
Disembarcation was also very easy. Another good job.
Conclusion : If daytime entertainment and dining is not a priority the this ship could be a good option. But for us those are non-negociable ( especially dining ) so we wont sail this ship again. Now we need to find out if that food thing is all over the fleet or just on this ship.
