Our last cruise with RCI was 5 years ago and since then we've done another 8 with Celebrity.

We thought we would try RCI again as the itinerary was new to us. Our first impressions were that this is quite an old ship and the decor is a little old fashioned. Our cabin , 9520, was the smallest balcony cabin we have ever had, including others on P&O and Cunard. Our biggest gripe was that neither of our two suitcases would fit under the bed despite the fact that they fit the standard airline size and we have never experienced this before. Because the cabin is so small the tiny sofa is very close to the bed which in turn is close to the balcony door so it is impossible to push a suitcase underneath. We ended up with one on the floor of the wardrobe and one just standing in the cabin in the way all the time. It was a good job the cruise was only for 7 nights as all our clothes then had to squeeze into one side of the wardrobe. Despite this our stateroom attendant kept the cabin pristine and forgot nothing. Our Elite status with Celebrity gave us Diamond status and the Diamond lounge was great. I would even say it was better than the Sky lounge on Celebrity. We ate in the main dining room on 4 nights and the food was really quite good. We bought the 3 night dining package and would rate Giovanni's as the best. We thought Chops Grille was good but the deserts were poor. Izumi is really not worth the bother. We had the $5 cover charge and $20 credit each covered by the package but it was not worth the money.

We had a problem finding information on how to get our free internet minutes and were given wrong information by Guest services and we ended up being charged over $20 for our first session and even after complaining and getting the free minutes the charge was still on our bill at the end. RCI really need to up their game on this as the staff are not being properly trained.
