Another wonderful Celebrity Cruise

Sail Date: March 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Miami

We just finished another great Celebrity Cruise on the Reflection. This was our second Celebrity Cruise, it would be difficult to try another cruise company, and we have already confirmed an Eastern Mediterranean cruise with Celebrity in July.

We stayed at the Marriott Biscayne Bay the night before embarkation at Miami, enjoyed the hotel, and the 24th floor view of the bay, South Beach, and the cruise ships entering the terminal docks. It was very easy to get a cab from the hotel to the cruise terminal, and the drive was only about 10 minutes. There was very little congestion and the porters took our bags quickly. We entered the terminal at 10:45 Am and went directly to the counter for check in. We were booked in concierge class and had no lines whatsoever. We then had to wait in a special seated area, until a little after 11:00, and then easily boarded the ship. The Miami terminal handled this embarkation very easily, and my wife and I were very impressed with the More organization and friendliness of the employees.

We went to the Ocean View Café to have quick lunch, our room was ready before 1:00, and our luggage arrived shortly after. Very organized.

The Reflection is a beautiful ship, very contemporary, sophisticated, and spotlessly clean.

The stateroom was a good size, and we were able to stow everything away. The storage above the bed is easy to access, and all the luggage was put under the bed. There was also more than enough hangars in the closet to accommodate all the clothing. Concierge level supplies a bottle of champagne, fresh flowers, and canapés in the afternoon. The canapés are not automatic, however, one has to order them everyday with an order form that is left in the room, with an delivery time option, but this was not a problem. Our stateroom attendant (Maricrisa) was very accessible, friendly, and helpful. Everything was taken care of immediately.

We ate in the Opus, main dining room every night and enjoyed the food and menu options. The wait staff was exceptional (Daniel, and Dan), as was the Sommelier. Since there were six of us travelling (relatives) we were able to have the same table and wait staff every night, and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals.

The service was a typical Celebrity high point. The bartenders, dining room staff, guest relations, shore excursions, ship's stores were universally excellent. Congratulations to Celebrity for the hiring, training, and motivation of the crew.

We attended four of the main production shows and they were very good, especially the second formal night Cirque type show, that was outstanding. Another part of this entertainment that was interesting, was a "meet and greet" presentation in the smaller celebrity central theater, on Friday morning, where the performers gave brief biographies of themselves, and answered questions from the Social Director (Ian - was great the whole cruise) and the audience. A unique experience to get to know the entertainers better.

Congratulations to the ship's officers for making themselves accessible and available during the cruise. We met many of them at the Cruise Critic Roll Call party, and the Captain's Club get together, but many of the officers were also available during the entire cruise. Very friendly, professional, and informative group.

Our favorite island was St. Martin, especially the French side, and the capitol of Marigot. We took a Celebrity excursion that included a bus trip through the Dutch side, across the mountains to Marigot, and then 2.5 hours on Orient Beach. Very enjoyable day. In Old San Juan, we took the public transportation shuttle to Old Fort Morro, and then walked back to Old San Juan and then the ship. Great weather and very enjoyable.

Disembarkation was easy. Waited in Opus Dining Room (where refreshments were served for concierge and suite guests), until 10:00 AM (we had a 2:40 flight out of Miami), then made it through passport and custom control quickly. The luggage arrives on an airport type moving belt, and the wait was about 15 minutes. We had reserved a bus trip to the Miami airport through Celebrity, and there was a lot of congestion, but this is to be expected with 3,000 people departing within a couple of hours. No big problem, however, just need some patience.

We thoroughly enjoyed this cruise, and would recommend Celebrity to those that are looking for an adult, upscale, sophisticated experience. Less
