We have done this cruise with Holland America before ,but taking in a couple of extra ports and days to do it
Boarding at Auckland was very easy , quick and a no hassle experience .Cases did take a while to reach our cabin, however we had a nice lunch in the meantime.
We enjoyed most meals in the main dining room ,great service and always met with a smile. We were a little surprised than more local food (NZ) was not served. Like strawberries hardly seen on the menu ,but just about being given away on shore ! Prawn's were few and far between ,though shrimps found every day. However food over all was good, as you would expect.
The cabin was a good size ,the balcony ditto and always kept clean and tidy by pleasant staff
We found the ship more like a floating hotel ,again nothing wrong with that I guess, but we do like the Holland America style of ship more.
The shops were set out well and prices as you would expect with the usual "sales" on some sea days.
The shows were good in the main ,cannot expect to like every type of show .Thought there would have been more production show with so many passenger's. The lectures were disappointing in our view ,lacking in real local story lines.
The bars were set out well and staff not pushing you to buy all the time ,made them enjoyable places to drink and relax.
Every few children onboard on this cruise and so we no nothing of children clubs.
We did our own shore trips, lovely ports and easy to get around. We were well served by lovely weather everywhere.
We ended the cruise in Sydney. Being the last to leave the ship we missed all the normal Sydney hassle on the wharf and found it very easy to get a taxi to the airport
