Another great cruise

Sail Date: March 2014
Destination: Eastern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

We took a cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on the Liberty during the first week of March. This was actually our second time on the Liberty and we were just as impressed (if not more) this time around as before. As far as other member reviews that criticize this ship, I honestly don't know what else they could want. We had one of the best cruise experiences that we have ever had; this is our 8th cruise with Carnival.

Embarkation was a very easy and seamless process. We were boarding the ship within minutes and all of the staff seemed very friendly. We booked a balcony cabin which was very spacious for three people. The best part about having a balcony was being able to see the ocean and view the ports from your own private room. During the debriefing on the first day, we were told that no smoking is allowed on the balconies so we were happy that we wouldn't have to worry about the smell of smoke from the neighboring cabins.

Entertainment was great. Brittany Boyd from More the Carnival Breeze became the new cruise director and she is one of the best. She and the fun team always ensured that all of the guests were having a great time. Deck parties were fun and people of all ages and ethnicities seemed to be enjoying themselves. We only went to 3 shows and they were very enjoyable. The DJ's played a nice variety of music and the Latin band was also very entertaining.

Food was amazing. I have to say, I've never had such good food on a cruise ship. Usually on a cruise, either the food in the Lido restaurant is good while the dining room food is bad or vice versa. However, on this cruise all of the food was excellent. Carnival has definitely made improvements in their dining room food. There is an all new "bistro-style" menu which features a variety of different foods which are cooked to order. Every meal that I had was delicious. Also, you should definitely try to utilize all of the special food events such as the sea day brunch and tea time with treats.

The staff made the trip even better. As stated before, the entertainment staff was wonderful. Our room steward also did a great job and our dining room staff became some of our best friends. Even the staff who weren't getting tipped at the end of the week showed the same amount of dedication that our primary staff did.

Ports were pretty good. Half Moon Cay was beautiful, however, the Bahamian staff on the island were a little rude to us. St. Thomas is nice if you want to spend the majority of the day shopping. We took a local van for a tour of the mountaintop overlooking Megan's Bay and did a little shopping. We really enjoyed the food and shopping in Puerto Rico. We recommend Cafecultura for coffee and Cafe Puerto Rico for great local dishes. Turks and Caicos was absolutely breathtaking. If you truly want to enjoy the beach away from the crowds, skip going to Margaritaville and try grabbing a spot on the right side of the beach.

Disembarkation was also very easy. All in all, we had a great trip and we can't wait to take our next Carnival cruise! Less
