Enjoyable tour. The hour long boat ride to the ruins is it's own adventure. The Lamanai Mayan ruins were interesting and probably the best ruins to see on the ports of call. The walk to the ruins is rocky (tree roots & large rocks) but safe as long as your watch where you're going. Lunch was very good a local meal of stewed chicken, rice with beans, coleslaw and choice of beverages. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared inforamtion about the local area and culture.
This was our favorite tour and if you're interested in seeing the ruins this may be the best offering.
It is not an ATV "adventure" it is an ATV ride in a large circle through a thick jungle/wood area. The only stop is for water and brief talk about local plants. The guides do their best, but the route is flat and rocky with very little to see.
At the second stop at the beach area we had a nice lunch of fish tacos and a coconut beverage, the fish tacos were great. The time there is about an 1 hr, the beach was very crowded with loud offensive music. Not quite the place to hang out and relax, was just too crowded and loud.
The time on the underwater scooter is about 30 mins. the rest of the time you can snorkel (equipment provided). The boat staff is very friendly and attentive offering snacks, juice and provided detailed instructions on the underwater scooter. There are a number of divers with the scooter group to make sure everyone is safe and comfortable.
The scooters go down about 8 ft. and there were not a lot of fish to see, just a few tiny fish and a turtle that we actually saw from the boat. The adventure is riding the underwater scooter, which is something different, so for that reason you might want to give it a try.
