This was our 3rd cruise with celebrity and have certainly noticed some small changes (cutbacks) with them since our last cruise on the solstice 2 1/2 years ago. This did not affect our cruise at all and still had a fantastic holiday..
Arrived in Hong Kong and the weather was as cold if not colder than the uk, so prepare yourself and take some woolies with you. Hotel in Hong Kong was nice and attached to the airport so not far to walk after a long flight.
Embarkation was straight forward and efficient on to the ship. Cabin ready almost straight away. We had balcony cabin on deck 6 and was fine, clean and plenty of storage space. Room attendant Charlie was efficient and had the usual knack of knowing when we left our stateroom and immediately attended to it.
PORTS OF CALL
We chose to book all our excursions through celebrity and glad we did. The tour guides were excellent and very informative. As most ports are quite a distance from excursions the More
days can be long and tiring but all restaurants that were included were very good.
Hong Kong- Did the laser light show and to the peak, very disappointed. Laser show was poor, seen a better show from the lights from buildings. Due to fog our trip to the peak was a waste of time. Did not see anything which I know is outwith anybody's control. Would not recommend it.
Hanoi - Long bus journey to Hanoi but worth it, had a great guide. Disappointed as was not able to see mummy of hoi chin minn but otherwise fantastic.
Halong bay - Morning out to the caves on a junk boat, highly recommended.
Danang - Did a bycicle ride in hoi ann, had a brilliant time and was one of my favourite excursions.
Hoi chinn min city - Went down the tunnels and again informative and enjoyable
Bangkok- Another one of my favourites. Went to an elephant park and got to ride on one of these majestic animals. Amazing.
Singapore - Very clean city but very expensive. Did not have too long to explore.
All of our excursions apart from Hong Kong very excellent value and for the distance we had to travel, the tour guide and meals worth every penny. All very well organised.
The itinary was why we choose this cruise and so glad we went. The people were so friendly and welcoming to us visitors to their country.
Yes the millenium is an older ship but in good order for its age. Did feel movement on occasions and we did have one night where the show was cancelled due to it being unsafe for the dancers/singers. Food was good, although the waiters and solemmiers have much more tables to attend to so not so much time for chatting. Ocean view cafe always busy for breakfast and lunch when sea days but a good selection. We had the classic drinks package which worked for us even although a lot of days we were away for 12 hours. Entertainment was ok, some guest entertainers not our cup of tea but you can't please everyone I suppose. Magician show was what you would see at a children's party. Onboard bands excellent D'Revelations were excellent and activities staff worked the guests well. There was some episodes of Nora virus on board while we were on and extra precautions were carried out, deep cleaning and no self service at the buffet (I actually prefer this even though it slows it down). The staff were vigilant with alcohol gel at all dining areas but I think they need to go into the toilets as well. On numerous occasions when I was in, there was people not washing their hands. There really is no excuse for this but do think a lot of people from a certain age are not quite so aware of the importance of hand washing.
CONCLUSION- If you want an all singing/dancing ship then the Millenium may not be for you but if you want to experience some wonderful countries and sights with good food and nice surroundings then yes I would highly recommend it. Would I sail with celebrity again? Yes without a doubt. Would I visit the Far East again?DEFINITELY Less
