My husband and i booked our first cruise to portugese islands for 3 nights on 28th Feb from Durban. This was a themed criuise with a local radio station. The embarkation and disembarkation were quick and efficient every thing in between was a complete disaster.
the food was very poorly prepared, either over or under cooked or stale. what was left over at lunch was served at dinner. when eating at the resturant, atleast one person at the table will receive their serving after every one else has eaten. Any side orders only arrive after we had eaten. When we ask about it, the response is "dont worry you will still eat" and the service was the worst i had experienced ever, the staff ignore you when you ask question or if they do respond its a very short and snotty remark. There was no sense of urgency, no apologies no concern in anything that the staff had to do. There were alot of older passengers on the ship and they were completely lost about how things were supposed to be, we found ourselves helping other passengers with the things the staff should be helping with. Whether the staff are overworked or not is NOT the customers problem, MSC has to ensure they keep their customers happy, i paid for a service which i did not receive. I most certainly will NEVER travel on the OPERA ever again and will ensure i let everyone i know about the poor service we received and discourage them from ever travelling on the OPERA.
The cabin was sufficient. it would have helped if the shower was 2 inches bigger.
