Wife and I are in our mid 40's and this was just our 2nd cruise (First was on NCL spirit out of NOLA in 2011) - so don't have too much to compare it to, but we are very casual and somewhat introverted, so we love the Freestyle concept that NCL offers.

Our trip started out by flying into Tampa- renting a car the day before- driving to FLL and staying the night before the cruise in FLL. Saturday moring got up and dropped off the car at the MIA airport and took Alamo's complementary shuttle to the Port of Miami. (Flew into Tampa to save about $400 on airline tix - and the free shuttle to the POM was one less nuisance we had to worry about) It was about 10am when we arrived at the airport to return the car, and we only had to wait a couple mins for the next shuttle to return from te POM with a load of people returing from their cruise. In less than 5 mins we were off to OUR cruise. Their was only 3 familys on the shuttle ride as it was still a little early to head to the port still.

We arrived at the port after a quick 15 minute or so shuttle ride about 10:30ish and there were still several guests disembarking at the taxi & shuttle stands where we just pulled up. The porters - in yellow hard hats - took our luggage and we proceeded to Terminal B to await going thru security. We had to wait outside for about 15 mins until the security building was open cause I'm sure they were still Disembarking previous guests. Getting there as early as we did, I figured we would have to wait and I was more than OK with it. At 11am they opened the doors to Terminal B and the 80 or so of us that were waiting outside, moved inside to the screening area. Once inside we had to wait another 15 mins or so until the started screening people and their carry on bags/luggage. After we registered and we got our room keys and gave them our credit card info - We proceeded to a large waiting area - with complementary coffee, water & orange juice. We were handed a Boarding Group 1 pass. A little before Noon they let the pre-boarders/handicap guests board then they called Group 1 :)

Cabin Review

We had a BA mid-ship balcony room 11214 and a wonderful steward Rodel. He called us by name on the first night. The room sufficed us just fine. Yes, the balcony was small but it was just that - a balcony on a cruise ship. We sat out there several times and also opened the balcony door to hear the ocean just about every morning. The curtain was very heavy and blocked out 98% of the sunlight if you wanted to sleep in. the door- when sealed tight - also blocks out all of the outside noise if you want quiet. The bathroom was small but layed out nice so it seemed larger than it was lol. Shower water pressure was a little on the weak side tho. Loved the flat screen TV and the ability to see dinner menus, book excursions, see account activity as well as see some of the shows that went on throughout the week. (The not-so newlywed game etc..) They have ESPN but don't expect to see NBA or college basketball like the normal ESPN. This is the international version and all I saw was either soccer or cricket. Not that I go on a cruise to watch b-ball games but I would have liked to of seen a SportsCenter once or twice.
