Back to basics in the Carribean

Sail Date: February 2014
Destination: Southern Caribbean
Embarkation: Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades)

Let me start by saying that this was about our first cruise with celebrity but we have cruised over 20 times with princess/royal carribean/azamara/norwegan. So we do have certain likes and dislikes.

Celebrity equinox was a delight in its decor and ammenities. The ship has on the 10 floor a library with big chairs and books where people would sit and read. On the 9 floor there was a game room. On the 8 th floor there was another setup. In essence these areas gave one a feeling of hominess.

Embarkation and disembarkation was the best we have ever experienced. It was smooth and quick.

Public washrooms were maintained to a very high level. When we went to eat there was always someone there to provide a shot of disenfectant.

Food was aboslutely great with many appetizers and entrees. The menu changed every night as did the appetizers. In the main dinning room we had Alexander and Andry as our waiters and they were the best we had on any ship. The More maitre'd for our table 457 would help his staff with cleaning and setting . This was absolutely great since it showed that the customers were considered number1.

We didd't take in any of the shows , we had a late supper and went snorkeling the next day.

The ship was clean throughout our cruise . The way the ship has been set up for its shops is quite good. It is basically all on two floors with a good selection.

The specialty restaurants were good except that in the Murano wjhere they make a show of the waiters bringing the food all at once for each customer resulted in the chateaubriand being served cool. The reason could be that the restaurant was filled and that some of us had the chateaubriand while the other half had lobster prepared at the table. The lobnster eatyers had hot food while we ended up with cold food.

The restaurant asked if we wanted new chateaubriand and even offered to give us a free lunch the next day. Less

Port and Shore Excursions

Snorkeling

(4)

we coudn't book Harrison caves and instead decided to go to a beach and snorkel. Not too manny reefs
but it was great to just be in the warm water and sun

Beach Break

(4)

just lying on the beach andf taking in the sun

St. John Tour

(4)

We boarded a boat and went to St. Johns . Once on shore we werte put on a bus and went to the beach. The waters and beaches in St. john were picturesque. The water was either blue or turquoise
and absolutely pristine. The US protects these beaches .

not much to see snorkeling but a pleasure to swim and take in the sun
