We travelled from England to Santiago and stayed one night before travelling to Valparaiso to embark. The taxi came to the hotel an hour early, there wasn't any traffic and so we embarked at 11.30. We didn't have to wait or were told we were too soon, we went straight to our stateroom which was an absolute delight. It was a mini-suite with full bathroom, loungers on the spacious balcony and a really super comfy bed, also two TV's. The public areas were very clean, not a finger print or spec of dust anywhere over the two week cruise. Our stateroom was kept immaculate but I was surprised to learn that stateroom stewards work nine months without a day off, just three hours a day!
The ports of call were really interesting although three were by tender. Ushuaia, Cape Horn and Falklands stick very firmly in my mind. Although it is high summer in South America in January these places are extremely cold, windy and can be wet, so thermals are essential. The long days were a lovely change from England in January.
We loved the food, it was first class, both in the restaurants and in the Horizon Court buffet. The entertainment was brilliant, there was lots of choice and would suit everyone. The shore enrichment lectures were first class and always fully attended. We didn't find the large ship overpowering as there are lots of spaces where you could be entirely alone. The staff were always very courteous and happy which gave the ship a contented feel. We are now looking to book another Princess cruise. We have been with them 4 times and never had any complaint just praise. Thank you to Princess for making our holiday special
